Iran has plans to gain a 2.6% share of the world steel industry by 2025, according to an Iranian mining official.
Shamseddin Siasi Rad, the director of training, research and technological affairs of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), said on Sunday that under the provisions of Iran’s 2025 Vision Plan, the country will be producing 55 million tons of unprocessed steel annually by 2025.
With 4.24 million tons of crude steel production during the first two months of 2019, Iran is placed between Turkey (ninth) with 5.2 million tons and Italy (11th) with 4 million tons
Iran’s February steel output grew 21.7% year-on-year to hit 2.01 million tons, according to the Brussels-based international trade body for the iron and steel industry.According to Deputy Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade and Chairman of Board of Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation Khodadad Gharibpour, Iranian steel industry is an export-oriented one in that the country exports more than 40% of its steel production.
